Internet of Things- A Quick Introduction

Rajesh K      iot

The Internet of Things is an interrelated network of physical things or objects which encompasses the IP addresses for the network connectivity.The IOT is embedded  with electronics, software and network connectivity.IoT connect devices embedded  with electronics ,software to the internet ,so that the devices and objects can be controlled from anywhere.

However, while the IoT seems to be just one technology, it actually incorporates other major technologies, such as cloud computing, data analytics, mobile, sensors, and machine-to-machine communications.

An IoT platform makes it possible to develop, deploy, and manage IoT and M2M applications, automate processes and network connections, store and manage sensor data, connect and control your devices, and analyze your data. The Communication will take place in different forms like Machine to Machine,Machine to Human and Human to Machine.

IoT – and the machine-to-machine (M2M) technology behind it – are bringing a kind of “super visibility” to nearly every industry. Imagine if machines stops itself when the Labour comes dangerously close to the machine, that avoids accidents in factories.

INTRODUCTION FOR IIOT(Industrial Internet):

The application of the IoT to the manufacturing industry is called the IIoT (or Industrial Internet or Industry 4.0). The IIoT will revolutionize manufacturing by enabling the acquisition and accessibility of far greater amounts of data, at far greater speeds, and far more efficiently than before. A number of innovative companies have started to implement the IIoT by leveraging intelligent, connected devices in their factories.

The IIoT can greatly improve connectivity, efficiency, scalability, time savings, and cost savings for industrial organizations. Companies are already benefitting from the IIoT through cost savings due to predictive maintenance, improved safety, and other operational efficiencies. IIoT networks of intelligent devices allow industrial organizations to break open data silos and connect all of their people, data, and processes from the factory floor to the executive offices.

The true value of the Internet of Things does not lay in the lights turning on when the car reaches the driveway, but rather the data that the connected devices collect about its users. Imagine a hospital with connected devices. The data collected from those devices provides information on the status of patients and runs analytics on the various monitoring machines thus helping the hospital to run as optimally as possible.

The collection of data from devices will allow consumers, businesses and even entire connected cities to run more efficiently.

IOT technology have  been practically applying in all fields and sectors like

It has become very apparent that IoT coupled with AI will be changing our way of life in near future.  We would be discussing more about applications of IoT in our forthcoming blogs.
